Hiroshima Overview |
Choosing a Target |
On August 6th, 1945, the U.S. made the decision to use a massive bomb (ironically named Little Boy) against the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later, as the Japanese government was trying to get a hold on the situation, the we launched a bigger bomb on Nagasaki.
|
There were four possible targets in which to hit: Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Kokura, and Niigara. The Target committee wanted to intimidate Japan with a large bomb on a city that had remained virtually unaffected by the war. They ended up selecting Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Thesis Statement

and the Manhattan project was a major scientific achievement, as well as a major
military achievement and made Japanese citizens the peaceful people they are
today.
